Sony Makes Inroads In Goa at the Western Region Dealers meet, Prem Kumar Nair, Deputy Director of Sony India Ltd announced that the company’s strategy was to develop market share through constant innovation and promotion of quality-consciousness among customers. Admitting that the Indian customer, while being cost conscious was also sophisticated and demanded the best in terms of technology and after sales service and Sony was equipped to meet both the demands. In a short period, Sony has made inroads in the local market now capturing a 35 per cent share in the audio segment and 8 per cent in the TV segment, both of which are higher than the National average. Sony has a wide range of audio systems whose sound waves have been modified to enhance the effect of Indian music. Among the range available in TVs is the flat screen Trinitron’ technology sold under the Wega name in India. Wega has been a tremendous success and is truly the only flat screen in TVs available today, claims Nair. Launched in 1992, Sony India Ltd has an annual turnover of Rs 630 crore and is expected to reach 720 crore. With a network of 33 distributors and 1400 dealers across the country, Sony is yet to meet the demands of the nation in audio and visual electronics. Make-up Maestro at WRDS Cory Walia, India’s Make-up Maestro was in Panjim last month to conduct a two-day intensive workshop at the Wendell Rodricks Design Space (WRDS). The workshop was sponsored by cosmetic giant Lakme, who supports Wendell Rodricks’ desire to enhance the beauty of Indian women through workshops of this nature. Besides supplying each participant a make-up kit valued at over Rs 2,500, Lakme flew Cory Walia to Goa for the workshop which was a huge success. French Courses At Mapusa Alliance Francaise de Goa will be commencing the Elementary level French language course in Mapusa from this month. The course is aimed at providing the learner (absolute beginner or even someone who has already learnt the language) oral and written command over the French language. Classes for the six-month long course will be held thrice a week. On successful completion of the course, the student will be awarded a certificate by the Embassy of France in India.
