                  TOP OF THE CHRISTMAS TREE
      by Ghtmler C. Almeida        gcalmeida@goa-world.net

Not long  ago  and  far away,  Santa  was getting ready for his
annual trip.....but  there  were  problems everywhere.  Four of
his elves  got sick,  and  the trainee  elves  did  not produce
the toys as  fast  as the regular ones,  so Santa was beginning
to feel the pressure of being behind schedule.
Then Mrs. Claus told Santa  that  her  mom was coming to visit.
This stressed Santa even more.
When  he went to harness the reindeer, he  found  that three of
them were about to  give  birth  and  two  had jumped the fence
and were out heaven knows where.  More Stress.
Then when he began to load the sleigh one of the boards cracked
and  the  toy  bag fell  to the ground  and scattered the toys.
So frustrated,  Santa  went into the house  for a cup of coffee
and  a  shot of  brandy.  When  he  went  to  the  cupboard, he
found the  elves  had hit the liquor and there  was  nothing to
drink.  In  his frustration, he dropped  the coffee pot  and it
broke into  hundreds  of  little  pieces  all  over the kitchen
floor.
He went  to get the broom & found that mice had eaten the straw
it was made from. Just then the doorbell rang  and Santa cursed
on his way to the door. He opened the door & there was a little
angel with a great big Christmas tree.  The angel said:  "Where
would you like to put this tree Santa_"
AND THAT my friend,  is  how the little angel came to be on top
of the Christmas tree.

In what seems to have become a habit in the international sporting

                    WORKPLACE GIFT GIVING ETIQUETTE
                          - by Mary Mitchell

At this time of year the old saying "It's the thought that counts"
has become a joke to many of us.That's sad, because the only true
gifts we can give are our time & attention. Unfortunately, giving
presents brings  up  all sorts of insecurities,  power  plays and
guilty feelings:  What if someone gives  me  a present and I have
nothing for them_  What, if anything, should I give my co-worker_
My boss_ Is it all right to be extravagant or markedly modest and
thus tip the gift-giving scale off balance_

Most of get confused when it comes to giving gifts at work. Below
are 10 tips  to  follow  when  considering buying a  gift  for  a
co-worker, a client or a vendor.

 1. No matter how fond of your boss you are, it's not a good idea
to give bosses gifts that are purchased. For  one thing, it's
not appropriate. For another,it could be misinterpreted as an
effort to gain extra favor. Of course, a lovely  card  with a
kind note  is  never wrong; and few people would argue with a
plate of homemade cookies or bread.
 2. Joke  gifts  may  get a laugh at the moment of giving but can
    leave a sour aftertaste.
 3. Notes that accompany gifts should  be  hand-written.  If  you
include a greeting  card,  make sure to add a written note to
accompany whatever printed sentiments the card contains.
 4. A gift's value is enhanced by the fact that it arrives on time
    and is nicely wrapped.
 5. Don't be overly extravagant.Remember something you make yourself
can  hold  its  own  against  the  most  extravagant or humble
    purchased item.
 6. Make sure it reflects the receiver's taste, not your own.
 7. Be sincere.
 8. Give an appropriate gift.  Make sure you don't sabotage anyone
with your good intentions -- for example, giving chocolates to
someone trying to lose weight and get into shape.
 9. Feel good about giving it.
10. Be kind.

T H O U G H T  F O R  T H E  W E E K:

           M O R E   B L E S S E D  T O  G I V E .....

Paul received an automobile from his brother as a Christmas present.
On Christmas Eve when Paul came out of his office, a street urchin
was walking around the shiny new car, admiring it."Is this your car,
Sahib_" he asked. Paul nodded. "My brother gave it to me for Xmas"
The boy was astounded.  "You  mean your brother gave it to you and
it  didn't cost  you  nothing_  Boy, I wish ....."   He  hesitated.
Of course Paul knew  what he was going to wish for. He was going to
wish he had a brother like that.
But what the lad said  jarred Paul  all  the way down to his heels.
"I wish," the boy went on, "that  I could  be a brother like that."
Paul looked at the boy in astonishment, then impulsively  he added,
"Would you to take a ride in my car_"  "Oh  yes, I'd  love  that ".
After a short ride, the boy  turned and with his eyes aglow,  said,
"Sahib,  would  you mind  driving  in  front  of  my  house_"  Paul
smiled a little.  He thought he knew what the lad wanted. He wanted
to show his neighbors that he could ride home in a big car.But Paul
was wrong again. "Will you stop where those two steps are_" the boy
asked. He ran up the steps. Then in a little  while  Paul heard him
coming back, but he was not coming fast. He was carrying his little
crippled brother.   He sat him down  on the  bottom step, then sort
of squeezed up against him  and pointed to the car.  "There she is,
Roland, just like I told you upstairs. His  brother  gave it to him
for X'mas and it didn't cost him a cent.  And  some  day  I'm gonna
give you one just like it . . . . then you can see for yourself all
the pretty things in the Christmas windows that I've been trying to
tell you about."  Paul got out and lifted the lad to the front seat
of his car. The shining-eyed older brother climbed in beside him
and the three of them began a memorable holiday ride.
That Christmas Eve, Paul learned what Jesus meant when he had said:
"It is more blessed to give . . . "
